The Luxembourg Association of Rural Youth and Young Farmers on Monday presented their demands from the future government, including an independent ministry, quick and simplified administrative procedures, and practical digitalisation efforts. According to the association, the Environment Ministry should also revisit their approval procedures, which they describe as lengthy and complicated.
Charel Ferring, who succeeded Luc Emering as president of the association after the latter was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for the Democratic Party (DP), underlined the need to have a person in the government standing in for the needs of the agricultural sector in general and Luxembourg’s young farmers in particular. Ferring even suggested his predecessor as a potential new minister, but acknowledged that there are a number of competent people able to take over the job.
While the association’s presentation did not draw a lot of members of the press, some of the newly elected lawmakers did find their way to the meeting. They included the aforementioned Emering, his party colleague Fernand Etgen, as well as Martine Hansen and Christophe Hansen from the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV).
