Meteorological Bulletin by AgrimeteoWinter was too warm, too dry in the south-west and too humid in the north-east

RTL Today
The state meteorological service of the Administration of Agricultural Technical Services (ASTA) analysed the last three winter months.

From a meteorological point of view, spring is considered to start on 1 March.

Overall, mean temperatures were above (+1.3°C) the multi-year seasonal reference (1991-2020). In terms of rainfall, there was a general deficit of rain in the south-west and a surplus in the north-east. However, winter agricultural crops were in good condition at the end of the winter.

The meteorological bulletin determined that December 2021 was too warm and too dry. For January 2022, temperatures were slightly above the seasonal average. In most of the country, with the exception of the Moselle region, rainfall was slightly below normal.

Temperatures in February were generally too high, and the third week was marked by storms Dudley, Eunice, and Franklin. The maximum wind gust recorded on 17 February was 97.3 km/h in Reuler.

ASTA considers that the final winter months marked a “satisfying start” into the new season for agriculture in Luxembourg.
