
By far the most effective is the speed camera in the Markusberg tunnel on the A13, which caught no less than 74,000 speeding motorists in a single year.

It is followed by the speed camera on the B7 in Schieren, which was triggered 39,500 times, i.e., 47% less than the one on the A13.

Fixed speed cameras were triggered 215,622 times in 2022. As a result, speeding drivers received fines of €49 or €145 and in some cases lost up to two points on their licence, depending on the speed measured. Penalty notices for high speed offences were issued in an additional 15,179 cases.

In 2022, the police also repeatedly deployed their mobile speed cameras. In the last 12 months, 90,421 fines and 1,824 penalty notices were issued.

There is a tolerance of 3 km/h if the measured speed is between 25 and 100 km/h. Above 100 km/h, a tolerance of 3% is observed.
Two years ago, a total of 156,038 fines were issued as a result of speeding detected by fixed speed cameras, a number well below that recorded in 2022. The same is true for penalty notices: 5,856 cases were recorded in 2021, i.e., one third of the number of penalty notices reported in 2022.
