Some love fireworks, others (especially animal lovers) hate them. New Year's Eve is one of two occasions usually celebrated by fireworks in Luxembourg, the other being National Day.
However, most municipalities do not permit residents to let off fireworks throughout the year. Others have bans in place, but will make exceptions for those granted special authorisation by the mayor.
