In Mersch, a police patrol was sent out at 1.30 am after they had received reports of a car stationed in the middle of rue de la Chapelle with all its lights still on.
Once on site, the officers quickly found the vehicle in question as well as the driver, who had fallen asleep behind the wheel. After they managed to wake the driver up, the police carried out a breathalyser test which revealed that the individual was "heavily" intoxicated. While checking the driver's documents, the officers also noticed that the individual was on a wanted list.
In a statement published on Saturday, the police confirm that "all necessary steps" have been taken. The driver has already received a travel ban for the entire territory of the Grand Duchy and further consequences might follow.
