In a press release, the LCGB union addressed the government with a request to end all economic activities not deemed essential to the maintenance of vital interests of the population and the country.
In particular, the union has targeted steel production or the automotive sector.
The statement said it was difficult to apply correct hygiene measures in these industries, compounded by the lack of protective equipment.
Following the closure of construction sites, the union called for other sectors to close down in order to limit circulation and human contact.
Although the LCGB acknowledged such measures could increase the chances of a major economic crisis, it underlined that health should take precedence over profit.
The LCGB requested that all efforts and measures be implemented, so that employees who commit themselves daily for the health and well-being of the public, can work with a maximum level of protection and security.
