According to the statement, the union feels snubbed because only on Friday did they receive the news that the secondary school year is due to be extended until 17 July, after a week of silence from the Ministry of Education.
Not only would this measure create more problems than it would solve, but the union also lamented that they were not informed about these plans sooner.
The union made it clear that they are not involved enough in decision-making and urgently requested a meeting with the Minister of Education, Claude Meisch.
According to Féduse, as a nationally representative union they should be more seriously involved in the school re-opening process. Friday’s decision to extend the school year would disregard the efforts made by teachers and parents during home schooling.
Féduse also raised the question why the physical presence of students of the graduating classes could not be limited to exams.
