From 2024Two-thirds of weed killer and insecticide products to be pulled from shelves

RTL Today
On New Year's Day 2024, around two-thirds of phyto-pharmaceutical products - which include insecticides, fungicides and weed killers - will be removed from the Luxembourg market, says the Ministry of Agriculture.

The Ministry of Agriculture announced the new regulation on Friday morning.

The products will still be available to buy for professional use only, provided the purchaser has a so-called “Spritzpass” documentation.

The national action plan aims to reduce herbicides by 50 percent by 2030, with a focus on the protection of groundwater.

From 1 January 2024, only substances that are classified by the EU Commission as a low risk for human and animal health will be permitted.
