
The perpetrators were said to have been two members of the clergy, with the incidents taking place between 1930 and 1960. The diocese confirmed the allegations in a yearly report put together by the Catholic church’s abuse commissioner.
All reports of abuse were passed on to the public prosecutor’s office. One victim has received financial compensation.
In 2010, the Archdiocese of Luxembourg set up a hotline for victims of abuse, as well as appointing a church abuse commissioner and board. Dr Martine Jungers has held the position since 2014. Reports have been published on an annual basis since 2019.
Last year, the church held five training sessions for people who regularly volunteer with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
