One day after the 19th edition of the ING Night Marathon, the organiser has announced the date for next year's event.

On 8 May 2027, thousands of runners will once again take to the streets of Luxembourg City. The team around organiser Erich François announced on Sunday that the 20th edition of the ING Night Marathon will be held on that date.

The anniversary edition will also mark 21 years since the launch of the night marathon in Luxembourg. According to the organisers, participants can expect "a few surprises", although details have not yet been revealed.

This year, 18,000 runners signed up for the various races, setting a new record. According to the organisers, demand for places had been even higher, but the event is being developed gradually.

François said the long-term goal remains to reach 20,000 runners, a target organisers set themselves around ten years ago.

The 2026 edition featured seven races in total, including the marathon, half marathon, Team Run, 5K Run to Success, Roll & Run, Minimarathon, and Mini-Minimarathon. Runners came from 61 countries and represented 125 nationalities, with almost half of participants living in Luxembourg.

The organisers also highlighted the scale of the support around the course, with more than 1,400 volunteers, over 670 musicians, and 71 music and dance groups helping to create the atmosphere along the route.

François described the ING Night Marathon as one of the capital's biggest events, alongside National Day, and said the night-time race had become known well beyond the Greater Region.

Registrations are already open for next year's edition.
