Tuesday morning saw significant traffic challenges around Luxembourg City. An accident happened on the A1, heading towards Germany, causing traffic congestion across the entire highway network.

According to information from Cita, the accident took place at the Howald tunnel, resulting in the closure of one of the two lanes within the tunnel. This area is particularly tricky as it is located near the Gasperich interchange, which connects with the A3.

As a result, traffic slowdowns were reported at the Gasperich interchange and on the A6 as well, extending well beyond the Cessange interchange, in the direction from Belgium to Luxembourg. Delays were also experienced on the merge lane from the A3 to the A1 (towards Luxembourg) and on the ramp from the A4 to the A6 (Esch-sur-Alzette to Luxembourg).

The accident has now been cleared, and traffic is expected to return to its normal flow.
