Despite a steady rise in unemployment over recent months, Luxembourg's labour market shows resilience, with thousands of job vacancies still in high demand across key sectors.

Despite general unemployment in Luxembourg having been on the rise for the past several months, some jobs remain in high demand. With unemployment at an estimated rate of 5.8% in September, Luxembourg’s labour market remains stable, even if the overall trend for the last year has been negative.

At the end of last month, 17,733 people were registered as unemployed in Luxembourg. But, at the same time, 6,737 jobs were declared vacant by employers. On 30 September, the ten sectors that were recruiting the most accounted for about 20% of the jobs in demand:

  1. Accounting and management (303 positions)
  2. Telecommunication and information systems (231 positions)
  3. Culinary production (177 positions)
  4. Secretariat and assistance (144 positions)
  5. Day-to-day help (118 positions)
  6. Construction (115 positions)
  7. Banking (107 positions)
  8. Service industry (104 positions)
  9. Paramedical care (99 positions)
  10. Social, socio-educational, and socio-cultural work (99 positions)
