
Two of these individuals were arrested in Luxembourg based on a European arrest warrant. Both men were taken to Sanem prison, pending their extradition to Italian authorities.
In this context, the public prosecutor’s office prosecution confirmed to our colleagues from RTL.lu that a third individual has by now been taken into custody in Sanem. This person, subject to an international arrest warrant, voluntarily surrendered to the Luxembourg police on Thursday morning. Extradition proceedings have been initiated.
The special police unit conducted the operation in Differdange and Soleuvre on Tuesday morning, leading to the apprehension of the first two suspects.
Italian media outlets have reported that the 12 arrested men are believed to be associated with Ndrangheta or to have been involved in their illicit activities. Allegations include extortion for protection money, arms trafficking, and drug distribution.
As of now, specific details regarding the charges against the two arrested men in southern Luxembourg have not been disclosed.
