The elected officials of the French town near the border have begun taking the investigation into their own hands. Mayor Cimarelli conveyed that recently, a backpack containing numerous addresses was found at the waste site: "We immediately passed the information on to the police." The name of a Belvaux resident, who has now been summoned by the Audun-le-Tiche police department, was also on the list.

Cases of fly-tipping in the border region are numerous, mayor Cimarelli further noted: "We find all kinds of waste, either from construction sites or private households. I can only imagine that people do it because it is faster and cheaper than any other way." Cimarelli did not put the blame on the Grand Duchy however, but rather on the scrupulous individuals committing the deed.

One thing is for certain, the residents of Rédange are fed up with the waste. Local officials are therefore committed to adapting to the situation and finding new ways of identifying culprits in time and award proportionate fines.
