With an estimated 40,000 visitors, the Diekirch Carnival remains a cultural icon, drawing both newcomers and loyal attendees who return year after year to celebrate the town's most important day.

The Diekirch Carnival, organised by the ‘Eselen aus der Sauerstad Dikrich A.S.B.L.’, took place under clear skies and temperatures of around nine degrees, setting a festive tone for the day. Despite the chill, thousands gathered in colourful costumes to dance, drink, and enjoy the company of friends and family, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

The event’s highlight was the grand parade, featuring 25 festive floats. Beginning at half-past two, the procession lasted over three hours, showcasing months of preparation by various associations from Diekirch, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Germany.

Organisers estimate that around 40,000 people attended, based on ticket sales. While the parade attracted many newcomers, the event’s true charm lies in the loyal attendees who return year after year. It’s more than just a local celebration: it’s a cultural showcase and a symbol of Diekirch, as it is the most important day of the year.

For many, the carnival offers a chance to unite in difficult times, celebrating community spirit and creating lasting memories. The festivities continued late into the evening, marking another successful year for Diekirch’s beloved carnival.
