An RTL mobile reporter had an unexpected sight on Tuesday morning while travelling between Bettel and Fouhren, spotting a group of around 30 white storks resting in a field.
This is not the first time such a scene has been observed in Luxembourg. Last year, similar images were sent in when a large group of storks gathered near Crendal in Wincrange.
According to ornithologist Jim Schmitz, who spoke to RTL last year, August marks the beginning of the migration season for many bird species, including storks.
Luxembourg often serves as a convenient stopover for migratory birds heading towards Africa. Storks frequently travel in groups, taking time to rest and feed in open fields, where they can find insects and small frogs to eat.
The white stork is widely recognised across Europe and is considered a symbol of good fortune in many countries. In recent decades, conservation efforts have helped stork populations recover in several regions, including parts of Luxembourg.
