Three people from Montenegro have been convicted in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption, document forgery, subsidy fraud, and facilitating illegal immigration at Luxembourg's Immigration Directorate, according to a report by reporter.lu on Tuesday.
The three individuals admitted to having obtained residence permits using fake diplomas after paying for the fraudulent documents.
Their cases were judged in July under a so-called "judgement on agreement", reached with the public prosecutor.
They received suspended prison sentences of one year each and were not fined, having been convicted of forgery and use of forged documents.
In total, around 30 people have been charged in relation to the case. The investigation, which involves several units of the judicial police and multiple investigating judges, remains ongoing.
