
Transport minister François Bausch supported the statement, highlighting that “sales are exploding” as the market shares for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles have now exceeded 30% in the Grand Duchy.
According to data presented by the ministers, electric vehicles make up 4.3% of all cars in Luxembourg - a “very high” rate in comparison to other European countries. The government has also acquired 180 electric cars, and 85 hybrid vehicles, since 2018.
Around 2,000 public charging stations are now available across the nation. Authorities have also pledged to ensure that 50% of kilometres covered by bus are served by electric vehicles by the year 2025.

Turmes explained that around 98% of Luxembourg residents now have public charging stations within five minutes of their home. He reaffirmed his commitment to the electric mobility cause, proposing that subsidies for the purchase of an electric vehicle should be extended beyond 2024 to encourage and maintain positive growth.
