This according to the National Society for Affordable Housing's (SNHBM) report for 2020, which was published on Wednesday.
In addition to the completed units, 245 new construction sites were launched, notably in Belvaux, Contern, Niederkorn, and in Luxembourg City's Kirchberg neighbourhood. In total, 981 housing units are currently under construction.
In 2020, SNHBM also undertook the construction of 79 housing units for rent. The number of social housing units thus increased to 311 in 2020.
One of the SNHBM's most ambitious projects is currently under construction in Olm. The first 54 housing units were sold in July 2020. The SNHBM has received almost 400 applications for this project. A new marketing phase is currently ongoing.
6,500 applicants looking to buy and 3,000 looking to rent are currently on the SNHBM's waiting lists.
