Following an investigation regarding the theft of some petrol at a service station in Differdange on Thursday evening, the owner of a car ended up being investigated. As it turned out, a driving ban valid until 2023 had been issued against him and his car has not been properly registered since 2020. While he was interrogated in his home, police officers noticed a distinct smell of cannabis.
On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the car was seized, and the suspect's home searched. Officers seized ecstasy and fluoroamphetamine pills, as well as smaller quantities of cocaine, speed, ketamine and LSD in addition to drug paraphernalia. Some of the seized drugs allegedly belonged to one of the suspect's visitors. This individual was, among other things, in possession of 24 grammes of marijuana, smaller quantities of hashish, as well as another substance he told police was "CBD". Another guest was carrying eight grams of speed. All of the people involved received penalty notices and the drugs were seized.
On Wednesday evening, police arrested a presumed drug dealer in Wiltz. A police patrol decided to check a car with three people inside, after the driver had illegally turned into rue Eisknippchen. The vehicle was searched and once again, the officers at the scene noticed a cannabis smell. One person tried to flee but was quickly immobilised. Following a search, police found that he was carrying 200 grams of marijuana and two mobile phones.
On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, the man was arrested and presented to an examining magistrate on Thursday morning. Other drug paraphernalia was found during a search of his flat. Another passenger inside the car was found to be in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. The police also found pepper spray as well as a grinder inside the car. A penalty notice was issued against the individual.
