Several key networks in Luxembourg were targeted by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack on Friday afternoon, as confirmed by the Government IT Centre (CTIE). The attack, which occurred between 1.05pm and 2.55pm, temporarily rendered several CTIE-hosted websites, including “myGuichet” and “Gouvernement.lu,” unavailable. The affected sites have since been restored.

Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks overwhelm networks by flooding them with superfluous requests from a variety of sources in order to render them unusable.

This is not the first time the CTIE has faced such an attack, with similar incidents occurring in spring 2024, October 2024, and December 2024.

Meanwhile, connectivity issues persist with the Luxtrust website. According to downorjustme.com, the page remains “down”. RTL readers also reported difficulties accessing the site.
