A total of 31 new petitions went live on the official petition portal of the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday. Citizens now have until Saturday, 2 November, to support any of these initiatives, with each petition needing a minimum of 5,500 signatures to be eligible for a public debate in the Chamber.
As with previous rounds, the demands cover a wide spectrum, including calls for policy changes on public infrastructure, employment conditions, and social matters.
Among the proposals are a national strategy to cool public buildings, the introduction of seven-hour workdays in July and August with the abolition of the collective summer holiday, the constitutional protection of cash payments, and expanded digital access to school textbooks. One of the more unconventional petitions suggests exploring the creation of a leisure park in Luxembourg.

The next petition-triggered public debate in the Chamber of Deputies is scheduled to take place in around one month’s time, focusing on measures to strengthen Luxembourgish as a language of integration.
