After six new infections occurred in the retirement home in Ettelbruck, the institution will no longer allows visitors, and that for a duration of at least three weeks. Cases have also been on the rise at the nursing home "Beim Klouschter" in Howald, which means that additional measures had to be taken here as well.
The Centre Pontalize remained almost completely untouched by the virus for seven months: only seven infections among staff members, and none among the residents, were registered in the crisis. However, last week, the first person showed symptoms of Covid-19.
News then broke on Monday that five people tested positive for the coronavirus, which triggered a tracing mechanism that monitored both external and internal factors.
While the institution has now been closed to the public, officials emphasise that they want to provide residents inside with as much freedom as possible. The government's mobile testing unit has meanwhile been deployed to assure that every resident and staff member can be tested.
