Among other incidents, police have reported an increase in fake emails impersonating judicial officials, urging recipients to provide personal information or money as part of a fraudulent criminal investigation.

Surge in email scam reports

Recently, the police have been getting a growing number of reports from individuals who have received fake emails claiming to originate from judicial authorities as part of a supposed criminal investigation. The messages claim to come from officials such as a bailiff, the police, or BEE SECURE.

Scammers typically try to first make contact by accusing the recipient of having committed an offence, and then demand personal information or money to resolve the alleged infraction. It is important to note that the authorities never operate this way.

Anyone who has received such an email should not respond to the request. Instead, they should ignore and delete the message.
