Yet another eventful night for Luxembourg's police.

After four break-ins were reported over Thursday, yet another spree of robberies took place in Dudelange, Bonnevoie, Luxembourg City, Mondercange, Senningerberg and Esch-sur-Alzette on Friday night. The robbers targeted apartments, houses, restaurants, and even a garden shed.

Unknown suspects also vandalised a Volvo V90 on Friday night around 8pm. They smashed one of the car's windows to get hold of a bag that was lying inside the vehicle. Witnesses alerted police.

An unusually high number of fights also broke out in various locations. The police had to intervene in nine instances. Excessive alcohol consumption was a factor in each brawl. Fortunately nobody was seriously injured. One person was forced to spend the night in a sobering cell.

Alcohol checks

The public prosecutor's office ordered several alcohol checks to be carried out between 10pm and 2am. Police subjected a total of 520 drivers in Büderscheid, Heiderscheid and Ettelbrück to an alcohol check. 17 of them were over the legal maximum and two licenses were suspended.

Another series of alcohol checks was carried out in Luxembourg City and in Fentange between 11.15pm and 3.30am. Police checked the blood alcohol levels of 159 drivers. Five tests came back positive and one person was under the influence of drugs. One driver's license was suspended.
