Authorities issued 124 fines during traffic checks on the A3 and N56, with a significant number of drivers caught using mobile devices while driving.

On Monday morning, police conducted roadside checks on the A3 and the N56 in Luxembourg City to enforce traffic regulations.

The operation, which took place between 6.30am and 10am, as well as before midday, resulted in the apprehension of 26 drivers caught using their phones while driving. Under the Luxembourg highway code, this offence is subject to severe penalties: a €250 fine and the deduction of four points from the driver’s licence.

In total, 124 fines were issued to motorists during the checks on the A3 and N56, the latter of which connects the A4 to the central railway station in the capital.

Burglaries reported in Oberdonven and Pétange

In addition to the traffic enforcement efforts, police have reported two burglaries.

On Monday afternoon, a single-family home located on Am Wues street in Oberdonven was targeted by unknown intruders. The burglars entered the property, searched several rooms, and made off with various pieces of jewellery and piggy banks.

Early Tuesday morning, another break-in was reported on Rue Aloyse Kayser in Pétange. According to preliminary investigations, the culprits managed to steal a safe from the premises.
