The temporary statute is now set to expire on 1 July; however, the Ministry of Health reports that reimbursements for remote consultations should be feasible once more by the end of the year.
The ministry is currently working on a new framework for teleconsultations and expects to complete the work by the end of September. The matter will then be referred to the nomenclature commission in the autumn with a view to enabling remote access to GPs through the winter.
Martine Deprez, Minister of Health and Social Security, said: “Teleconsultation has been an essential solution to ensure continuity of care during the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognise the commitment and professionalism of the health professionals who used this new consultation style. However, with the improvement of the health situation, it is time to re-evaluate our measures and turn to an approach more adapted to the post-pandemic reality.
