A series of break-ins took place in Luxembourg City early on Thursday morning, starting around 3.30am in the Gare district. Police were initially alerted to an attempted break-in involving a delivery van on Rue Fort Wallis, which authorities believe was preceded by an attempt to burglarise a nearby bakery.
Officers later spotted the suspected perpetrator on Boulevard Roosevelt. The man, who was found with injuries reportedly sustained during a break-in at a premises on Rue de Chimay, received medical attention.
He was subsequently arrested and, on Thursday afternoon, brought before an investigating judge at the request of the public prosecutor’s office.
That same morning, police also responded to several reports of break-ins at businesses in Luxembourg City’s Ville Haute, including on Grand-Rue. In two cases, windows were smashed.
At one location, a cash register was stolen but soon found near an entrance. Another establishment reported several bottles of alcohol missing.
Police indicated that evidence suggests the man already in custody may also be responsible for these incidents.
Separately, on Sunday at around 4.15pm, a man was robbed by three individuals outside a shop on Place de la Gare. The victim was injured during the incident and received on-site medical attention, but declined further treatment.
The three suspects remain at large, and police have launched an investigation.
