The centre comprises 80 beds in individual rooms, which will allow sick but stable people to recover in the best conditions while benefiting from medical care. It was set up over the last few days.
Within 24 hours, 60 patients previously accommodated in the Red Cross recovery centre were either taken home or to the rehabilitation centre
Director general Jean-Philippe Schmit explained the Colpach centre will accommodate patients suffering from coronavirus after their stay in hospital.
Contaminated patients will be sent there by hospitals, in order to be isolated in the individual rooms of the castle.
A huge effort has been made to train staff who must be able to work in optimal safety conditions, said Schmit.
A psychosocial service has also been set up in Colpach, in order to make the patients' stay as pleasant as possible.
The duration of the patients' stay will depend on the course of the disease for each patient, as discharge will be authorised after two negative results for Covid-19.
More than 66 members of staff are situated at the Château de Colpach, bringing together doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and psychologists.
A similar structure is also planned in the event of an emergency at the Mondorf thermal spa.
