Public health professionsRecruitment procedures of nursing staff to be revised

RTL Today
On Tuesday, CSV deputy Marc Spautz addressed issues surrounding advanced training for professions in the public health domain.

While parties agreed that revisions needed to be made in the public health domain, no consensus was found on how to improve the process in the future.

LSAP deputy Francine Closener welcomed the administration's decision to consider a BA degree for nurses, but underlined that people working in the field still had their reservations about BTS degrees and demanded the recruitment of properly educated staff members. LSAP therefore supports the creation of a full training program accessible to high school graduates.

Minister of Education Claude Meisch conveyed his scepticism regarding this option, noting that first an analysis needed to be made to see if this would actually solve the problems occurring in the sector.
CSV deputy Marc Spautz took the discussion one step further by demanding the implementation of a master's program. He moreover emphasised that cooperation with the country's neighbouring regions needed to be maintained to adequately respond to the situation: "We need to facilitate the changing procedures between foreign and domestic systems, so that people can transfer quicker from one region to another."

LSAP proposed to have in-depth talks with people working in the field over the course of autumn.
