It is a tradition in Luxembourg: on Liichtmëssdag, children carry a lantern and go from house to house asking for sweets while singing one of several traditional songs.
The Road Safety Association recommends that motorists, children and their parents take great care during this event.

If they have to cross the road, they should always do so at a safe place, such as a pedestrian crossing. If there is no safe crossing, they should cross where there is good visibility on both sides. It is important to always be vigilant and to ensure that children and adults are clearly visible to motorists. For this reason, the Road Safety Association strongly advises residents and their children to wear light-coloured clothing and to be equipped with reflective safety vests or other accessories.
Motorists are advised to drive at a slower pace than usual.
