A major police intervention took place on Tuesday 15 October following reports of an armed attacker. Now, the public prosecutor’s office has called for an investigation into the incident.
No further details were released on Thursday due to the nature of the incident and its relation to youth protection.
In an interview with RTL, school director Jeff Kohnen said the alarm had been raised by a student at Redange secondary school, claiming she had seen a suspicious-looking young person who could have been armed with a weapon.
The school promptly followed emergency procedures and informed the police of the report.
Following a major operation with numerous police units, the authorities were unable to discover a weapon. By 12.30pm, they declared the incident over and permitted students to leave their classrooms.
The school has enabled psychological support for those in need.
