Luxembourg’s Public Prosecutor has confirmed that a pregnant woman suffered a medical episode during a police special unit operation in Bonnevoie, after the entire building was searched as part of the raid.
The statement, issued on Wednesday morning, follows criticism of the operation. Prosecutors acknowledged that the woman had not been a target of the search but was nevertheless affected when officers carried out their search.
During the operation, police discovered an unregistered firearm, a cannabis growing operation, and counterfeit money. The Public Prosecutor stressed, however, that the woman’s health did not deteriorate as a result of the incident. She was taken to hospital after experiencing abdominal cramps and was given medication. The unborn child was later reported to be physically well.
It was also confirmed that an interior door inside the building was damaged during the intervention by the special unit.
A neighbour whose door was damaged also described being woken by police. He told RTL that officers restrained him and placed a hood over his head for approximately an hour, during which he said he experienced breathing difficulties.
Police carried out the search after a suspect was reported to have been regularly frequenting a reception facility in Kirchberg and was believed to be possibly armed.
