A man accused of being in possession of child pornography could come away worse following an appeal.

The man's first sentence consisted of a €5,000 fine but, on Friday morning, the punishment was increased to a 15 month prison sentence and an adjusted fine. He is also set to be banned from having contact with minors for 10 years. In 2015 and 2016, the man was accused of using underage girls to make 25 pornographic images and a film.

The final outcome for the appeal will be confirmed on 15 October.
