The Women’s Institute was founded in 1930 and accumulated several thousand members over the years. It is mainly involved in humanitarian and social projects, but the Institute has also helped train educators, lead a daycare, and organise cultural holidays.

According to sources, the financial situation of the non-profit has also become problematic.
