The government is pushing to expand on renewable energy mechanisms, such as solar energy. In light of this, the Ministry for Energy recently put out a new call for bids to encourage private investments into new solar energy systems.
Friday demonstrated one prime example of this joint collaboration acting on an invitation to tender, which resulted in a large photovoltaic panel on the roof of the Post sorting centre in Bettembourg. Both Post and Enovos are set on promoting sustainability, with their joint project producing eletricity for 170 households.
Minister for Energy Claude Turmes, who highlighted the government's continued support of wind turbines and photovoltaics, is confident that this new call for tenders will be successful.
Turmes further stated that, following a full house event with IMS - companies set on highlighting environmental and social responsibilities - the government's aim was to generate up to 100 megawatts in the coming years. He added that all those who are interested in investing need to know that their dedication towards sustainability is not a one shot, but a long game.
