During the weekend, the police registered a surge in reports concerning fraudulent emails instructing citizens to pay fines for alleged parking violations.

In this context, the police would like to remind the public that they never solicit individuals to share their personal information via links provided in text messages or emails, nor do they request payments through such means.

In cases of uncertainty, individuals are strongly advised to directly contact the respective ministry, government department, or public entity for verification.

For those who have received these deceptive emails, the best course of action is to refrain from responding to the invitations, ignore the communication, and promptly delete the email.

Attempted scam at Luxembourg City car dealership

In related news, a man was arrested following an attempted scam at a car dealership in Luxembourg City on Thursday. The individual in question wanted to sign a leasing contract for a car. However, it later turned out that the man had provided forged documents and fake personal data.

The police were able to arrest the culprit on Friday and he was presented to an examining magistrate the following day.
