A 30-year-old firefighter has died from injuries sustained in a mysterious incident in November last year, as police continue to appeal for witnesses.

On 3 November 2024, a seriously injured young man was found on the CR226 between Itzig and Alzingen, prompting police to issue a witness appeal. As of last Wednesday, it has been confirmed that the 30-year-old firefighter has died from his injuries.

This was announced by the Hesperange Fire and Rescue Centre on Facebook. The man had been found not far from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) intervention centre on the CR226. The exact circumstances of the fatal incident remain unclear.

According to a news report from Luxemburger Wort on Tuesday evening, citing the public prosecutor’s office, the investigation is still ongoing. Police had previously issued a witness appeal, which remains in effect. Anyone who may have information is asked to contact the Hesperange police station via phone (+352 244 46 1000) or email (police.hesperange@police.etat.lu).
