The Luxembourg police reported several incidents across the country in their latest bulletin, including multiple vehicle thefts and a drug-related arrest.

Vehicle break-ins

Police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins reported over the weekend. In Diekirch, a perpetrator smashed a car window in a parking lot on Saturday afternoon, stealing a laptop and headphones, among other items. Investigators later apprehended a suspect and recovered the stolen goods. The individual was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office and appeared before an examining magistrate on Sunday morning.

Other similar cases were reported. A car parked on Rue Charles Darwin in Gasperich was targeted using the same method on Saturday morning. In Belair, a thief entered a vehicle
on Val Ste Croix through an open window before fleeing the scene. This suspect remains at large.

Investigations into all incidents are ongoing. The police remind residents that advice on preventing vehicle crime is available on their official website.

Presumed drug dealer arrested in Gare neighbourhood

A suspected drug dealer was apprehended in the Gare neighbourhood of Luxembourg City on Saturday evening. At approximately 9.25pm, an individual approached plain-clothes officers on Rue de la Fonderie, offering to sell them drugs and stating they were in possession of substances. The officers immediately identified themselves. Following notification of the public prosecutor’s office, the suspect was arrested and brought before an examining magistrate on Sunday morning.

Two drink drivers lose licences

Separate traffic incidents over the weekend resulted in immediate driving licence suspensions.

On Saturday evening, a police patrol observed a vehicle zigzagging on the A1 motorway. The driver, pulled over for a check, showed clear signs of intoxication and had their licence revoked on the spot.

In a second incident early Sunday morning, officers noticed a car driving at walking speed with its hazard lights activated. Upon stopping the vehicle, they discovered two flat tyres and an inebriated driver. A positive breathalyser test confirmed impairment and the motorist was forced to surrender their driving licence.
