Following fire in MerschPolice issue call for witnesses

Following a series of incidents on Thursday evening and Friday morning, the police and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) were actively engaged in responding to fires, burglaries, and accidents.

In Mersch, an incident involving a fire at a construction company’s warehouse was reported after midnight. Authorities are currently seeking witnesses to aid in their investigation of this incident.

The CGDIS teams were called on three separate occasions on Friday morning to address various fire-related incidents. In Roodt-Syr, a fire broke out in a flat. In Bissen, emergency responders were called to extinguish a cable fire, while efforts in Sassel were directed towards tackling a chimney fire. No injuries were reported in any of these incidents.

In the early hours of the morning, at approximately 4am, the police were alerted to a burglary in Luxembourg City, specifically at a restaurant located on Rue Edward Steichen in Kirchberg. The suspected perpetrator is believed to have gained access through a partially open window and they made off with money from the establishment’s cash register. Despite efforts to apprehend the suspect, they managed to evade capture.

In addition, emergency services reported a total of three traffic accidents on Friday morning, each resulting in one person being injured. At 6.15am, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Bereldange. Approximately an hour later, at around 7am, two vehicles collided on the N7. Another collision took place shortly before 9am in Oetrange.
