Pedestrians and cyclists are among the most vulnerable road users, and children even more so than adults because of their slimmer build and smaller size, their inexperience on the road and, sometimes, their inattention or even distraction on the way to school.
Added to this is the fact that the route to school is often taken at the darkest times of the day, i.e. in the early morning or the late afternoon.
Considering this heightened risk, the police, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, has donated safety waistcoats to every child in cycle 2.1 this year.

More than 8,000 safety waistcoats will be distributed across the country in September, along with an explanatory letter to parents, a drawing to colour in, as well as a flyer with basic traffic rules for children.
To improve children’s visibility, the police are encouraging them to wear safety waistcoats, especially at the darkest times of the day, such as early in the morning on their way to school.
