Police report that two suspected money mules have been arrested. In both cases, the suspects allegedly allowed their bank accounts to be used for money laundering.
Following a complaint related to a LuxTrust scam, authorities identified a woman suspected of allowing her bank account to be used to launder stolen money on Friday afternoon. The public prosecutor's office subsequently ordered a search of the woman's home. The suspect was arrested and appeared before an examining magistrate.
On 24 September 2026, police received another report of LuxTrust phishing. The home of a man suspected of acting as a money mule in connection with this case was searched on Friday.
During the search, police seized 85 grams of hashish and gathered circumstantial evidence suggesting the man is also involved in drug sales. He was arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor's office in Diekirch.
In light of both cases, police noted that providing a bank account for money laundering purposes is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to €1,250,000.
