
A few weeks ago, the Chamber of Deputies passed the new financing law for the ‘Superdreckskëscht’ initiative and created a new legal framework that had been missing up until this point. However, it seems that the case is not closed just yet.
The opposition parties already announced that there are simply “too many discrepancies” that need to be investigated. The Pirate Party has now decided to take the next step and has filed a complaint with the public prosecutor’s office. This was confirmed by MP Marc Goergen on twitter.
Goergen recently announced in an interview with our colleagues from RTL.lu that the party intended to take this decision if the public prosecutor’s office did not get involved on its own.
The Pirate Party had commissioned a legal opinion which came to the conclusion that the contract between the state and the operating company from 2018 was outright illegal. According to the legal opinion, there is a suspicion of conflicts of interest relevant under criminal law.
The Pirate Party had submitted a motion to require the government to issue a new call for tender. However, the motion was rejected by the three majority parties.
