Unions and student associationsPhysical presence demanded to be optional for final-year classes

RTL Today
Teaching union SEW and student association UNEL published a joint statement with suggestions regarding the imminent reopening of schools in Luxembourg.

The union and the student association cited a total of 11 points. They for instance argued that physical presence should not be mandatory for final-year secondary school pupils except for tests and exams.

They also maintained that it was not advisable to have one start date for all classes. Instead, they suggested, classes should return to school gradually, starting with final-year pupils (if they so choose) on 4 May. Lower classes should go back to school at later dates: 18 May for 4th to 6th year pupils and 25 May for 1st to 3rd year pupils.

According to the union and the student association, this phased reopening of schools would allow for better coordination in the school sector.
