Following the new recommendations of the superior council for infectious diseases, people who recovered from a Covid-19 infection will now be able to count as fully vaccinated after receiving their first jab. The change in approach comes into effect on 13 June.

Two scenarios are important to retain:

  • A person who contracted the virus and has received the first shot of the vaccine prior to 13 June can request an updated QR code, either via the government helpline, or via email (helpdesk-vaccination@ms.etat.lu). Officials will offer to cancel the second appointment and update the document.
  • A person who contracted the virus and still has to receive the first jab can present a positive PCR test (no older than six months) when going to the first appointment.

To sum up, the combination of a successful recovery and one vaccine dose is enough to cover the new Covid check system. Concerned people will however still have the chance to opt for both vaccine jabs.
