Police received reports of a female pedestrian walking through the Grouft tunnel on the A7 motorway at 4am on Monday.
A patrol found the woman and brought her to safety. It transpired she had been travelling as a passenger in a car, until she had a fight with the driver and got out the vehicle.

The car and the driver were later found at a petrol station in Lorentzweiler. During police checks, it turned out the man did not own a driver's licence. He was consequently fined.

Some two hours later, a car was reported for erratic driving and almost crashing into a wall in the Grouft tunnel, travelling north. A police patrol pulled the vehicle over and performed a breathalyser test on the driver. The man was found to be heavily intoxicated and subsequently had his licence confiscated as a provisional measure.

Incidents on Sunday

The Grand Ducal police also dealt with a number of motorists driving under the influence on Sunday.

At around 4pm, a police patrol pulled over a vehicle without a licence plate on Route de Kayl in Dudelange. The driver smelled strongly of alcohol and was made to undergo a breathalyser test, which returned positive results. It also transpired that he had been issued with a driving ban previously and was breaking the terms of the ban. The car was seized by the authorities and the driver was fined.

A motorcyclist crashed on the CR154 between Alzingen and Syren at around 5.20pm. When police arrived on the scene, they found the motorbike parked in a nearby garden. Soon after, they found the owner, and it turned out the vehicle was uninsured. The motorcyclist had simply moved the bike into the garden after the crash. The motorbike was seized and a fine was issued.

At 6pm on Sunday, a woman called the police about a man asleep and unresponsive in a vehicle parked at a petrol station on Rue d'Athus, Pétange.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the vehicle still running next to a petrol pump. Officers woke the driver up and carried out a breathalyser test. The man had his driving licence confiscated and was fined following the positive result.
