Hit and runPedestrian critically injured in Remich, driver reportedly fled to Germany

On Saturday around midnight, several people reported that a female pedestrian had been seriously injured in an accident on Place du Marché and that the person responsible for the accident had hit and run.

An immediate manhunt was launched for the driver. The pedestrian received emergency medical care and is currently still in critical condition.

As it was suspected that the driver had fled in the direction of Germany, the German colleagues were also informed and are prepared to participate in the manhunt.

The public prosecutor’s office was informed and the evidence recovery service was requested.

The road was completely closed for the duration of the operation.

Investigations into the person responsible for the accident are being initiated.

During the traffic control regarding the accident, the officers became aware of a driver who disregarded the officers’ instructions and continued his journey.

The car was stopped in rue Dicks and the driver was checked. The man was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A test showed that the permissible limit had been exceeded by more than twice and the driver’s licence was suspended.
