A group of young people were said to have boarded the 6.58pm service from Luxembourg to Metz on 11 May with an unusual mode of transport - a scooter. The group then disembarked at Bettembourg.

Twitter user Vee Redhair said on Wednesday “You won’t see anything more WTF... I don’t know whether to laugh or cry”. She shared the experience with RTL 5Minutes.

Vee said the other passengers were perplexed by the occurrence, and said it was incomprehensible how the group had managed to get through Luxembourg City train station and onto the train without being stopped.

Staff onboard the service seemed aware of the moped, as the train manager made an announcement to that effect when the train reached Bettembourg. However, rather than admonishing the perpetrators, Vee said he had permitted them to board and then greeted them when they left the train.

Not permitted

RTL 5Minutes has since contacted CFL for a statement on the incident, to see if they were aware of the matter and to clarify how the group were able to get the moped on board the train in the first place.

In a Tweet replying to Vee’s original message, @TERNancyMetzLux confirmed vehicles such as mopeds were not permitted on their trains and asked for further details on the service. There may well be an investigation to follow.
