The central points of discussion surrounded a possible reform of the monarchic element of the Grand Duchy's constitution. Commission president Mars Di Bartolomeo noted that there was a consensus among the members to maintain the current model and that differences mostly concerned the content of the proposed amendments.

MP Léon Gloden (CSV) inquired about the recommendations of the Waringo report and the progress of the respective implementation.

"The monarchy's functioning must be reformed"Gloden reminded the commission that they were promised by PM Bettel to have a follow-up report by mid September, of which there was still no trace: "If we still had to amend a part of the constitution, now would be the ideal moment." Di Bartolomeo stated that there was an ongoing dialogue with Bettel as well as Waringo to determine whether or not the implementation process required any legal adaptations. He was optimistic that the subject could find closure during the next session of the commission.

Topics of interest of the next meeting will be basic rights and public liberty. MP Simone Beissel (DP) used the summer period to prepare accordingly: "It is a real challenge to draft the new version since we cannot under any circumstance forget to include any of the ground-laying arguments of the original text."

Beissel expressed her hopes that the respective amendments could be concluded by Christmas so that the final four drafts could be published by spring.
