"We are still in a crisis. It is the right of the Chamber to receive, and the duty of the minister of finance to provide financial transparency", Gilles Roth stated.
According to the MP, the chamber needs to be able to assess the full range of spendings made to relaunch the economy so that successes and failures could be evaluated and taken into account for future investments. He thus reminded the administration that during the Financial Crisis of 2007-2008, then-minister Luc Frieden presented monthly reports on the evolution of state finances.
Roth further conveyed that during the most recent session of the Chamber's finance and budget commission, all MPs from the administration's three parties voted against the demand that minister Gramegna had to present the full report. However, they changed their minds soon after. Roth thus expects that the minister of finance will have to deliver.
